I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what a great resource You Tube is for learning and supplementing lessons. While you certainly have to be careful with letting kids watch YouTube, there are so many choices for learning there. One day I was looking for a teaching video to help explain Direct Objects to my son, and I came across this channel by Mr. Hoth.

The actual video and sound quality isn’t the best, but the content is great. He does a great job explaining grammar concepts including diagramming sentences. This channel is best for probably 6th grade and up. Watch this video as an example which shows whether a participle is a verb or an adjective:

Piano lessons are something that many kids would love to take, but aren’t always an option. They can be out of reach for so many families due to various reasons such as cost, logistics, or location.

Mr. Hoffman at Hoffman academy believes that everyone should have access to music education. That’s why he built this amazing site with free piano lessons. There are 120 lessons for students to do alone or with a parent. Watch what Mr. Hoffman has to say about his wonderful lessons.

Free Printable U.S. State Unit Study

Elemental Blogging is a great site that has several resources for homeschooling science, history, etc. Many of the resources are paid and some are free. I wanted to share this wonderful freebie from Elemental Blogging with you guys! This US State Study is a great resource for learning about the United States. It includes a page for each state, grouped by geographical location. Students will fill in information about the state including State Flag, Capital, Nickname, etc. They also mark it on the map to help visualize the state’s location.

Free Weather Unit Study Printable Worksheets

Weather is a really fun topic to add to your homeschool lessons! You can teach your kiddos about weather very inexpensively or even for free. Here is a great weather unit study freebie I found that will go great with your weather studies! All you’ll need is an indoor/outdoor weather thermometer to keep track of the temperature changes. You can pick one up at the Dollar Store or if you want better quality try this very affordable one from Amazon:
