North Dakota Homeschooling Legal Requirements

North Dakota residents have two options for homeschooling per the HSLDA:

Option 1: Homeschooling under the home education law.

1. Ensure that you have the required teacher qualifications.
2. File a yearly statement of intent.
3. Provide the required days and hours of instruction.
4. Teach the required subjects.
5. Keep school records.
6. Have your child tested if applicable.
7. If your child has a developmental disability, follow these requirements.

Option 2: Homeschooling as a private school.

1. Ensure that you have the required teacher qualifications.
2. Teach the required subjects and days of instruction.
3. File a yearly statement of intent.
